All About Artizan

Artizan Print and Design Shop showcases the work of Marcus Goldson with its myriad different styles, forms and subject matter. Although Artizan was founded in 2009, in a sense it has been around since about 1990, the period of time in which Marcus has been producing and selling his work.

Talking about why he has such a wide range of work and different styles Marcus says: 'I've never consciously pursued a single style. A good idea or the nature of the subject matter almost dictates how you should depict it plus a good knowledge of different techniques. If I think something would look better done as a screen-print then I will develop my skills in that area.

I use watercolour a lot because I feel confident with it but I do try to develop my knowledge of other techniques and media. Most of my pictures or ideas are simply observations of real life with a little embellishment by me. I think anything that is visually interesting, or that provokes a story, laughter, imagination, empathy and understanding is valid food for my pictures. Influences and ideas can come from any era or culture. Portraying something in the best way possible is also essential and if that means using a medium or technique that is new to me then I go and learn that technique or craft or invent something new'.

In addition, we also offer Marcus's pictures printed on postcards, notebooks, chairs and pouffes as well as bags and accessories, which have been designed in collaboration with a well known Budapest design studio, Artista.
